WHAT IS A DOULA?
The word doula in Greek translates to "woman caregiver."
A doula is a trained professional who provides specialized care and support to families as they grow, through their birth experiences. Doulas help to empower women and their partners by providing information, physical comfort measures, tips, tricks, and encouragement; before, during, and after birth.

Assistance from a doula is intended to promote a safe and satisfying birth experience for both the birthing person and their loved ones. Doulas will draw on their knowledge and experience to help families navigate through the birth experience with strength and courage.

As a woman rides the emotional and sensational waves of labor, a doula's job is to help her and/or her partner, to sync into their own natural rhythm through the process.

THE ACU-DOULA
Aloha, I'm Hayley and I'm a professional Birth Doula and Licensed Acupuncturist serving the Island of O'ahu. As a part of your birth team, I'll be your hand-holding, hip-squeezing, position-suggesting, acu-pressuring, birth companion. As your doula, it is my duty to help you create the birth experience YOU desire.
I offer nurturing care, emotional and informational support, as well as physical comfort measures to help you through the process. My goal is to help foster positive birth experiences for generations to come.

Birth is an incredibly powerful milestone in the human experience.
It is both a labor of love and a sacred rite of passage.

For a woman, the birth experience initiates an inner journey like no other.
In the moments before her child is born, a woman must reach deep within herself to discover the very essence of her existence.

And all at once, she discovers her true nature:

She is the bridge. She is the power. She has united heaven and earth in her body.
She is one with all forces of nature.
In this moment, she is forever changed.

The energy present during pregnancy and birth impacts the primal bond formed between families. The foundation of your newborn's life is shaped by their birth experience. A positive birth experience can create a profound impact on a family and their newborn that can last a lifetime.
Birth is a journey of expansion, love, and inner exploration. When a woman feels supported through this process, she can face birth without fear. She can tap into her true power, and access transformation, self-discovery, and deep healing. As your birth doula, it is my work to keep you and your partner comfortable, informed, and empowered through the journey.
